Why is a Flemish locker company becoming a fixture at Europe’s festivals?

The modern festival locker does more than hold a coat. Mobile Locker says its self-service units can support contactless payment, advance booking, access sharing and phone charging. Its software also gives organisers information about occupancy and revenue. The company says the systems can operate with a power connection and mobile internet, allowing blocks of lockers to move between temporary events.

For attendees, however, the important distinctions are practical rather than technical. A campsite locker may remain accessible around the clock, while a locker beside the stages may close shortly after the final performance. At Pukkelpop in 2026, campsite lockers were due to be cleared at noon on the Monday after the event, whereas lockers on the festival grounds had to be emptied on Sunday night, according to the festival’s English-language FAQ.

Size and power also change the price. Pukkelpop listed festival-site lockers from €10 a day for a small powered unit to €16 a day for a large powered unit, with full-festival packages also available. Crammerock in Stekene listed medium lockers at €11 a day and large ones at €17, while advising visitors to book in advance. These are event-specific 2026 examples, not standard Belgian tariffs; future visitors should use the price and dimensions published for their own festival.

Start on the organiser’s official website rather than following an advertisement or an unofficial resale link. Select the correct location—festival park, main entrance or camping—and decide whether you need a day rental or a full-event rental. Then compare the internal dimensions with what you plan to store. A small charging locker may accommodate a phone and compact valuables but not several jackets or a large backpack.

Save the confirmation email, locker number and access code offline in case the mobile network becomes congested. Never post or forward a code except when using an official sharing function with trusted companions. If charging is included, check whether the unit provides USB-A, USB-C or a standard socket; Pukkelpop explicitly told users to bring the appropriate cable and, for some units, their own adaptor.

Belgium’s language split can make the booking journey look less uniform than the service itself. Flemish festivals generally publish locker instructions under “praktische info” or “lockers”; French-language events may use “informations pratiques” and “casiers.” Large festivals often provide English pages, but the Dutch or French version may be updated first. In Flanders, questions about local event requirements ultimately sit with the relevant gemeente; in Brussels and French-speaking Belgium, visitors will more often see the term commune. Belgium.be notes that rules for public events vary between municipalities rather than forming one universal procedure.

The popularity of the units reflects more than a generational taste for comfort. Phones now carry tickets, payment cards, travel information and digital identity services, making both battery life and theft protection more consequential. Belgium’s Federal Public Service Interior recorded 4,367 pickpocketing cases between July and September 2025 and warned in June 2026 that smartphones, bank cards and wallets were frequent targets in crowds, queues, public transport and festival entrances.

A locker can reduce exposure, but it does not replace ordinary precautions. The federal guidance recommends taking only essential valuables, carrying bags close to the body, limiting cash and recording a phone’s IMEI number. In the event of theft, visitors should contact the police, block their SIM and use Card Stop or Doc Stop where relevant. The official emergency number is 112.

There is also a trade-off for organisers. Automated storage can reduce queues and staffing needs, but visitors still need clear assistance when a code fails, a booking email goes missing or a rental expires. Crammerock said a staff member would remain present at its Mobile Locker stand, while Mobile Locker advertises remote and on-site support. The degree of support and any liability limits should be checked in each event’s rental conditions.

Belgium’s dense festival calendar gave Mobile Locker a useful early market, but the company’s centre of gravity is increasingly European. Its own client showcase names Rock Werchter, Pukkelpop and Dour alongside Hellfest in France and Kappa FuturFestival in Italy. Resurrection Fest’s 2026 information confirms that the model also travels across languages, ticketing systems and national markets.

Creafund became a strategic partner in 2025 to support management expansion, commercial growth and the search for possible international acquisitions. The parties did not disclose the financial terms. Their joint statement said Mobile Locker employed almost 50 people at that time and served events, public buildings, stations and airports as well as festivals.

The next test is whether the company can scale that operational network without losing the reliability that makes people pay for convenience. Festivalgoers should watch for clearer multilingual booking, more USB-C charging, transparent rental conditions and better integration between festival tickets and locker reservations. Mobile Locker has established a visible European footprint; how much further it grows, and how large its present festival volumes are, remains undisclosed.
