Philippe Close, the mayor of the City of Brussels and president of the Conference of Mayors, told La Dernière Heure that almost all identified perpetrators in previous shooting cases had been arrested. The pattern predates the latest weekend and has repeatedly been linked by police and prosecutors to competition around street-level drug markets.
